Marks can show up on welding tables no matter which finish you choose. The key is understanding what kind of mark you are seeing.

Not every mark is the same. Some marks come from the workpiece, some only affect the surface coating, and some are true scratches in the table itself.
Common Types of Marks

What Causes the Marks?
The first type of mark is often just transferred material from the part being dragged across the table. For example, aluminum can leave a visible smear even when the table itself is not damaged.
The second type is a light scratch in the oxide layer. Some finishes include a dark oxide surface, so a superficial mark may show up more clearly even though the hardened base material is still intact.
The third type is a real gouge. Hardened steel surfaces resist damage better than mild steel, but no table is completely immune to scratching or denting. Hardness affects how much damage is done under force, not whether damage is possible at all.
What This Means in Real Use
In normal shop use, some customers may see light scratches in the oxide finish. That does not always mean the table has been deeply damaged.
If a surface mark looks unusual or excessive, Arc-Zone can review the table serial number and check whether there have been any other reports from that production lot.
Shop Tip
Before assuming the table is scratched, wipe the mark first. A lot of what looks like damage is actually transferred material from the workpiece.
